Publish Live Charts into Your Site
Every year my team divides our classes into four teams and they earn points throughout the year for a wide variety of things. We award points for attentiveness, effort, attitude, showing respect for others, outstanding performance or anything else we deem appropriate. When I had this system in my own classroom record keeping was easy, but when other teachers got involved, it became a bit more tricky. I had never heard of Google docs before, but my brother, who is the techie guy in my family, recommended I check it out. I set up a form (survey) which I sent to all the participating teachers. They were able to submit their points from the email I sent them. Then I set up the excel sheet so it would automatically add all the entries in each team's column. These totals were then turned into a chart, which I embedded (using the embed code provided) into my website. Now, whenever a teacher enters points, the chart automatically updates in real time. My classroom competition page is linked here.
